Jacob started playing piano aged five and by seventeen, had achieved a classical diploma and won prestigious John Ogdon Scholarships in consecutive years. He wrote a musical and was then accepted into Leeds College of Music (now Leeds Conservatoire) to study composition in which he gained a First Class degree after two years. Leeds Conservatoire have since invited Jacob back to film, record, teach, accompany and advise - most recently appointing him as a lecturer and Musical Director on the new Musical Theatre Degree Course. As part of this Jacob successfully coached a student to the finals of The Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year where they performed at the Sondheim Theatre.
Jacob met DJ Jamie Hartley in November 2013 and by January 2014, they were made featured artists on BBC Radio 1 under the alias, alphabet. Their debut song 'Just Another Day' has racked up hundreds of thousands of plays and their follow up single 'Anymore' was remixed by multi-platinum selling artist Lost Frequencies. This led on to Jacob's career in songwriting and production including work for such many major labels with his music appearing in film and TV.
Jacob now holds piano residencies across many of the most prestigious venues in the country, both performing solo and with a selection of guest artists.
Jacob's music has taken him all over the world, he frequently tours internationally and has just returned from working in Italy as a session pianist.
Jacob was the Musical Director for the Northern Youth Theatre Company with whom he produced two musicals a year at the Carriageworks Theatre, Leeds. His other musical theatre ventures include being MD for the award-winning Made in Dagenham with YAODS and most recently as the MD for Opera Della Luna, with a critically acclaimed run at Wilton's Music Hall.
Alongside writing solo material Jacob writes for others artists and agencies. Jacob produces all of his own music and has produced freelance for bands and artists for many years. He also wrote a concept album entitled the 'Seven Deadly Sins'.
He has recorded artists such as Nizlopi, Jon Gomm, O'Hooley & Tidow and Paper Aeroplanes.
